Why WooCommerce Product Images Need a Consistent Size
WooCommerce generates several registered image sizes from every product image: woocommerce_thumbnail, woocommerce_single, and woocommerce_gallery_thumbnail. If you upload product images at different aspect ratios, WooCommerce crops them differently, producing shop grid cards at different heights. The cleanest solution is ensuring all product images are the same dimensions before they enter WordPress.
Setting Up for Batch WooCommerce Image Upload
- Go to DiviPerfect → Image Compressor
- Open the Smart Crop & Compress tab
- Set Width to 1200 and Height to 1200 (or your chosen dimensions)
- Set the focal point to centre (50%, 50%) for most product shots
- Choose your output format in Compression Settings — WebP at quality 80 is recommended

Uploading Multiple Images
Drag all your product image files onto the drop zone. Each file is uploaded, cropped, and compressed in sequence. A grid of result cards shows each processed image with its filename and compressed file size. All images are now in your media library, ready to assign to WooCommerce products.
Handling Images That Need Different Focal Points
For products that do not photograph well with a centred crop — full-length apparel, angled product shots, or items with logos in a corner — click "Edit Crop" on any staged image. A modal opens with a draggable crop overlay. Set the position and click Apply. All other images in the batch continue with the global focal point.
Automating Future Uploads
Enable "Enable on Upload" in Compression Settings to process future uploads automatically. Note that the automatic on-upload feature applies max dimension limits and quality/format settings — not Smart Crop dimensions. For exact crop dimensions on future batches, use the Smart Crop & Compress tab.
Before and After
After processing, all your product images in the media library will share the same dimensions and be in WebP format. WooCommerce will use these to generate its registered thumbnail sizes consistently, resulting in a uniform product grid.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the fastest way to prepare 100 product images for WooCommerce?
Set your target dimensions and focal point in the Smart Crop & Compress tab, then drag all 100 image files onto the drop zone. The plugin uploads, crops, and compresses each image server-side. The entire batch can be ready in your media library in 5–10 minutes depending on server speed.
Do I need to install WooCommerce for Divi Image Compressor to work?
No. Divi Image Compressor works on any WordPress website. It does not require WooCommerce or Divi to be installed.
Can I use the same image in multiple WooCommerce products?
Yes. Once an image is in the media library it can be assigned to as many products as needed. Cropping and compression does not affect this — the image retains its media library ID and can be reused freely.
What if some of my product images are portrait and some are landscape?
Set the output dimensions to a square (e.g. 1200 × 1200) so all images crop consistently regardless of their original orientation. Use per-image focal points to ensure each product remains well-framed in the square crop.
Will WooCommerce automatically use the new images after I crop them?
Yes. WooCommerce generates its thumbnail sizes from the attached image file. After cropping, WordPress regenerates all thumbnail sizes, so WooCommerce's product images update automatically.
